Hello Everyone;
I am starting this group as a way to journal and keep you informed with updates. It may take time and there may be pauses in the entries, but I will endeavor to keep you all informed. It will be easier for me to. That way one posting will keep everyone informed.
As most of you are now aware, you now know the hand that has been dealt to me. The last 10 days have been earth shattering to put it bluntly. It has changed my entire life and brought me to my knees.
Now that the shock has lessened, (maybe only a little), I am determined that I am not going to allow this scourge to get in my way, if I have say in the matter. Will this journey slow me down, yes, alter the next year of my life, yes, challenge me beyond anything I have ever had to face, yes, help me even more to understand what my grandson went through, most certainly, make me bald, very likely. Despite all of this, it is a journey I must take. With God on my side, and all of you, II will get through it.

I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Micropapillary Carcinoma of the right Breast and a lymph node next to it. In short, I have cancer. Notice I gave it a little c. Though it is a rare aggressive and rapidly growing form of breast cancer, thankfully, it has not spread any further. What really helped to hear yesterday in my appts with the team, I was told repeatedly that this cancer grew between Mammograms and is one that is very easily undetected by self-breast exams (which I try to do at least every other month).

I will be needing Chemo right away for about 4 months to shrink the tumor in my breast and lymph node. The hope is that they will shrink down enough that they are hoping for minimal invasive surgery. That will be either mastectomy or lumpectomy depending on my response to chemo. After surgery, there will be radiation treatments and more endocrine therapy.

The entire multidisciplinary team I my daughter and I met with yesterday, was very optimistic that I will beat this. Breast cancers now days have little chance of surviving the new standards of care for whipping it into non-existence.

I will probably have the initial infusion(s) in Denver at University Hopsital and then the following ones either in Rifle, Glenwood or Grand Junction where my kids live. I vote for whatever keeps me home as much as possible.
I am going to continue to keep working as much as possible and was told multiple times today that there should be no reason not to, and no reason that I cannot still go to Washington DC (did I say CCHN/CCNE awarded me a scholarship to NACHC P&I Forum). It will fall in between Chemo sessions.I want to continue my life of serving as much as I can.

I will need to pace myself and most probably need help at home keeping house and meals and maybe rides to treatments if local. No sick people as my immune system will be compromised.

I ask all of you for your prayers, thoughts and support as I navigate this journey forced on me. I would do it for any of you in a heartbeat.

It’s important to me to stay as busy as my body will allow and fight for Health Care for all and be a light in a dark world. More than ever, I am determined to do what God has called me to do.
This is the Group that will keep you informed and up to date as much as possible. There may be times, I need someone to update it for me. Nevertheless, with your help, I will get through it.

Siouxanne and I on my wedding
day💕
I have known Siouxanne for the past 30 years. She is like a second mom to me, as she has been there for my milestone moments through the years.
Several years ago my mom and Siouxanne shaved their heads for St. Baldricks. This past Saturday Siouxanne shaved her head again, but this time she shaved her head because of her cancer treatments.
My mom offered her long locks to Siouxanne for a wig, So with Siouxanne’s blessing I started this wig fundraiser!
